The Centre for African Aesthetics is soon going to be open to the members of the public.
Devoted to the promotion of excellence of African cultural roots, the Centre for African Aesthetics is based on the philosophy that the culture of any community is the people’s bank of knowledge for the development of the society’s aspirations and inspirations.
The founder of the Makueni (eastern Kenya)-based organisation is David G Maillu, a writer-cum politician who also doubles up as head of Neterian African Religion, says there are plans underway to build a
shrine that will be devoted to African Spirituality. There is an ankh on site with plants leaning towards it as if proving that it is, indeed, the symbol of life in African culture and spirituality.
Alongside the centre’s physical location is the book called Ka: The Holy Book of Neter; a collection of texts that seeks to serve as an instructional book on African Spirituality and culture. It for example has prayers that can be said during important ceremonies like birth, marriage, and death, prayers of healing. It is a book worth having if you are interested to learn and practice the African
way.
“This centre is Makueni is a hope that the African Culture will not die. We would have a
place that would serve as a library of our culture and have it grow and flourish from
there. African Spirituality will be the religion of the world,” Maillu says.
